Academy Appraisal

Tony Studds

Life experiences brought Tony into the appraisal profession in the early 1980's. Graduating from William & Mary in 1980 with a Bachelors in Business Administration prepared Tony with the quantitative and analytical skills which are so necessary in today's business world. Subsequent to graduation, he was recruited by a large mechanical contracting firm and quickly learned the duties of project management.

Before leaving, Tony's construction knowledge had advanced to the point where he prepared competitive bids and designed commercial mechanical systems. Seeking a new direction, Tony applied for and was rewarded with the new position of Appraiser Trainee where he was selected out of a pool of well over one hundred applicants for the one position. For the next ten years, he trained at the City of Richmond Assessor's Office. There, Tony gained invaluable experience in appraising difficult residential and commercial properties. Given his statistical background, he wrote and successfully applied Automated Valuation Models for a number of neighborhoods. Feeling well prepared for the duties of a fee appraiser, he left the city in 1993 and has been an active full time residential appraiser ever since.

In his current position as one of the principle appraisers of Academy Appraisal, Tony performs an array of residential property assignments to include valuations for: mortgages, divorces, estates, reviews and tax appeals. He enjoys the confidence of a number of the largest lending institutions in the nation who regularly call upon him for the most difficult assignments. The combination of his education, construction experience and over twenty years of full time appraisal experience has seen Tony uniquely qualified and stands him at the at the top of his profession.
